Measure around the base of the neck where a collar sits, then add a little room. If your pet falls between two sizes, take the larger one, since the loop fastening lets you tighten it but not extend it.
Wearing it safely: anything worn around the neck should be supervised. Keep it loose enough to slide two fingers underneath, take it off before your pet is left alone or goes into a crate, and remove it if they start chewing at the yarn. Wash gently by hand and dry flat, since a wool blend will felt and shrink in a hot machine wash.
